MSOE students are bright, creative, hard-working and fun to be around. Ours is a close-knit community of about 3,000 students, faculty and staff—large enough for big opportunities and small enough for personal attention. Since 1903, MSOE has been offering an applications-based education, partnering with leaders of business and industry to shape the institution’s development. Early supporters realized that their future depended upon educational institutions that could prepare men and women to fill newly created engineering and management positions.

Today, MSOE offers 17 bachelor’s degrees and 11 master’s degrees. The students who attend MSOE come from all parts of the United States and dozens of other countries. More than 20,000 alumni live and work throughout the United States and abroad, and nearly 2,000 of them own their own businesses or are officers of companies. 

Milwaukee School of Engineering

Robert Lemke teaches courses in building investment economics, construction finance, contracts, estimating, architectural design, architectural history and more at MSOE. He is a LEED accredited professional, registered architect and real estate developer. He is active in real estate development and rehabilitating historic buildings. Lemke is a senior project advisor at MSOE, and has coached multiple national award-winning teams for MSOE's student chapters of the Architectural Engineering Institute, Design-Build Institute of America, and AGC/ASC. He is both a volunteer instructor and an advisory board member for the ACRE program, a national model for mainstreaming minority individuals into the real estate industry.

Impact Seven Invests in the Dreams of Students

In 2009, Associates in Commercial Real Estate (ACRE) students at Marquette University presented their class project, a twenty-four unit apartment building with a year-round farmers market, before a panel of bankers, city leaders and peers.  The class project was so well received students, Tina M Anderson and Sherry Terrell-Webb, decided to pursue their dream to make the school project a reality. 

Although Tina and Sherry's school project was a promising candidate for tax credits, obtaining the credits wasn't guaranteed.  In Wisconsin, tax credits are allocated annually through a competitive process, and even after credits are granted, there is still no guarantee a project would go forward, as developers have to find investors willing to buy the credits and further obtain additional financing.

Tina and Sherry soon discovered Impact Seven, who became joint partners in the development of the students dream:  Mitchell Street Market Lofts.   The non-profit organization secured the tax credits, secured the construction and permanent financing, secured a number of grants and loans for the project including:  The Home Depot planning grant through LISC, the Federal Home Loan Bank grant, the State of Wisconsin Brownfields grant, the City of Milwaukee Neighborhood Stabilization Program Grant (NSP), and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Green Roof Grant.  Impact Seven also worked with the Architect and General Contractor to develop the design and scope of work, and provided all lease-up and on-going property management of the project.

"In two years I went from real estate novice to the developer of a six million dollar project featuring cutting edge green technology and sheltering a fresh food oasis in the central city. We made it happen because people believed in our vision and because we formed the right partnerships along the way," said Tina Anderson. 

Impact Seven is currently pursuing funding to support the continuation and expansion of the ACRE's program that catapulted two students to their dream.  With information from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Impact Seven offers a full range of property management services. Impact Seven's operations, physical, financial and administrative, are all completely automated. All day to day tasks such as rent collections, maintenance requests, and tenant certifications are completed utilizing the latest technology. This includes HUD's TRACS program and WHEDA's Quarterly Status Reports.

Impact Seven gives the highest priorities to making properties safe, functional, attractive and pleasant for the residents.
